Sustainable Retirement Living Facility – Shipley
Overview
Deseco was commissioned to design a pioneering retirement living facility in Shipley, establishing new benchmarks for sustainability, safety, and comfort. The project prioritised energy efficiency and environmental responsibility while ensuring the highest standards of functionality and safety for elderly residents.
The design encompassed a complete MEP system, featuring advanced HVAC solutions such as ventilation, air conditioning, heat recovery units, and a heat pump system to reduce energy consumption and enhance indoor comfort. Safety was a key focus, with the integration of fire alarms, a dry riser system, and an advanced smoke ventilation extract system to protect residents in the event of an emergency.
In addition to safety and efficiency, the facility was designed with space optimisation in mind, ensuring a practical and accessible environment for residents and staff. The project also included intercom call systems, CCTV, door access control, and data infrastructure to support connectivity and security. Future-ready features, including EV chargers and lightning protection, further enhanced the building’s resilience and sustainability.
