Why Choose Heat Pumps?

Heat pump systems offer a more environmentally friendly, cost-effective and low-maintenance alternative to traditional boilers, significantly reducing the total energy required to heat your home.

Better for the environment

Air source heat pumps are one of the most carbon-efficient heating solutions available, especially when paired with solar PV and battery storage technology. And they’re emission-free, unlike gas-powered systems.

Better for your budget

With the rising cost of electricity, moving to a heat pump system can result in substantial savings over the long term. And with few moving parts, the ongoing cost of maintenance is much lower than traditional boilers.

How it works

Heat pump systems work using compression and evaporation — similar to the way a refrigerator works. They transfer natural heat from the outside atmosphere into your home to heat water, using a simple 4-stage process.

1-icon

Evaporator

Heat from the outside passes through the heat exchanger, causing the refrigerant fluid to turn into a gas.

2-icon

Compressor

The fluid is then mechanically compressed, which increases its temperature to a level high enough to heat your water.

3-icon

Condenser

This heat is transferred into your heating system, raising the temperature of your central heating or hot water supply and condensing back into a liquid.

4-icon

Expansion Valve

The refrigerant liquid passes through an expansion valve which releases the pressure and temperature, ready to begin the cycle again.
